Our Response

Typhoon Goni, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Rolly, made landfall on Catanduanes in the Philippines. The storm, the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane, brought with it significant rain fall and sustained winds of 140 mph. As a result, severe flooding and catastrophic damage to homes and crops occurred.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 137,000 houses were damaged or destroyed and 67 health facilities and more than 1,000 schools also were damaged. More than 1 million people were impacted by the storm.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is compounding the crisis with concerns about controlling the spread of the disease in evacuation centers and in communities left without clean water sources.

Airlink is assisting partners bringing emergency supplies and other assistance to the region.
