Hurricane Joaquin

On the weekend of October 3, 2015, South Carolina was hit with historic and catastrophic flooding in the wake of Hurricane Joaquin. The storm hit the state at Category 2 strength, dumping more than two feet of rain, and buckled buildings and roads and closed major US highways. In total, the storm killed at least 12 people in the state. In the aftermath, approximately 40,000 people are without water and about 26,000 people are without power.

Airlink worked with multiple nonprofits and the National VOAD to coordinate response to this event. In total, thanks to partnerships with United and JetBlue, Airlink dispatched 8 staff members from All Hands Volunteers and NECHAMA to coordinate volunteers, oversee debris removal and manage expedient home repair operations.
