Responders Sent to Colombia
Airlink’s Disaster Response
Airlink is working with airline and logistics partners to rapidly mobilize humanitarian partners to help communities in Colombia by sending:
- Search and Rescue and emergency medical teams
- Disaster assessment and management teams
- Urgently-needed aid supplies, including medical supplies, medicines, water filters, food, shelter supplies, and more
Thanks to generous support from Avianca, Airlink quickly deployed an Urban Search and Rescue team from CADENA A.C. who arrived in the first 72 hours after the earthquake, known as the “golden hour” to save lives. Amidst collapsed buildings, this specialized team is searching for survivors across Pereira, Cali, Manizales, and rural communities near San José del Palmar in Chocó. Airlink has a long history of responding to catastrophic earthquakes, including the recent Venezuela earthquakes, the Türkiye-Syria earthquake in 2023 and Myanmar earthquake in 2025, and is utilizing best practice developed in those rapid responses to mobilize partners and get immediate relief to communities.

Situation Overview
The strongest earthquake to hit Colombia in years shook multiple cities and significantly damaged infrastructure on the morning of August 10, 2026 in the western part of the country. Cali, located about 200km from the epicenter and where most lives were lost, was the hardest hit by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake. Thousands of buildings were destroyed and tremors were even felt in neighboring Venezuela, where Airlink is still responding following its recent earthquake.
