James Gagne has 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and business leader in the global supply chain, transportation, and logistics industry. Since graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, James has started, run, and invested in businesses.
After graduation, James worked at the Port of New Jersey in Terminal/Ocean Carrier Operations before leaving the United States for China and a series of executive positions with Maersk, BAX/Schenker, and Agility.
Joining SEKO Logistics in 2014, James led the fast-growing Asia Pacific Region, based in Hong Kong. James was promoted in 2017 to SEKO’s President and its Chief Executive Officer a year later. With his transition back to the U.S. to lead the global organization, James spearheaded the growth of the company from three countries and $400 million in revenue to 150 offices in more than 60 countries and $2 billion in revenue by 2022. His leadership enabled SEKO to become the world-class logistics provider it is today, while maintaining and advancing its client- and people-centric approach.
James brings transformational leadership, driving change, people development, and the building of effective cross-cultural teams to deliver significant shareholder value creation and increased business performance. By scaling the company while staying “small enough to care, big enough to scale,” James enabled SEKO to not only survive, but thrive.
In 2020, James spearheaded the launch of SEKO Cares, with the goal of uniting members of global communities and inspiring other multi-national corporations to support humanitarian relief efforts. Since its inception, SEKO Cares and its partners have provided crucial aid to the people of Ukraine, Türkiye, Haiti, Syria, and more. Under James’ stewardship, SEKO Cares expanded and, in 2023, SEKO launched its inaugural ESG report – a critical milestone in the organization’s history.
Since 2011, James has been an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and has served in various leadership roles. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Wineshipping, a premier tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies. Outside the office, James enjoys reading, rowing, and wine, and is a proud husband, partner, and father.
