Bruno Vandemeulebroecke
Experienced Humanitarian Supply Chain Practitioner

Bruno has been working in humanitarian supply chain management for the best part of 20 years. He has worked for a wide range of NGO’s in various conflict areas, in sudden onset environments as well as at headquarter level. Before joining HELP Logistics, from 2017 until 2021, he was the Deputy and periodically Acting Global Logistics Cluster Coordinator, the mandated overarching coordination platform on humanitarian logistics.

Over the years, Bruno has spearheaded a series of transformative initiatives in the sector. He co-created the ESUPS initiative to streamline emergency relief items prepositioning, conceptualised and initiated the initial Logistics Cluster preparedness program, created the WREC initiative aimed at environmental sustainability of humanitarian supply chains and conceptualised what later became the Global Supply Chain Initiative of the WEF. He also conceptualised several tools used in the sector to optimise supply chain planning and coordination (EDUARDO and CHOCOLAT). Invested in the possibilities of inclusive partnerships, he played a crucial role in the management of the Logistics Cluster community of partners, counting several hundreds of humanitarian stakeholders.

Since 2021, he is leading the team of HELP Logistics, a programme of the Kühne Foundation in West Africa, ensuring the regional management and focussing on designing and executing supply chain analysis projects leading to (social, environmental and economic) efficiency and effectivity gains for a wide range of partners in the region.

Bruno is a strong advocate for efficient, sustainable and impactful supply chains in support of humanitarian operations. Due to his many years of experience, he is frequently solicited by donors as well as humanitarian organisations and is widely recognised for this expertise within the sector.

He is regularly requested to provide guest lectures and inputs to academic publications and research and, since 2021, he is also a member of the Airbus Foundation Advisory Council.

He holds a master’s degree in political science, international relations after graduating cum laude from the KULeuven University in Belgium.
