The Situation
Spring has brought relentless storms across the Central and Southeast United States.
Tornadoes & Storms Outbreak (May 16-17, 2025):
Another wave of severe weather devastated the central U.S. with large tornadoes reported in Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. By the following Monday, it was confirmed that the 80 tornadoes down flattened thousands of homes and claimed over two dozen lives, with multiple injuries reported. As residents dig through extensive damages, more tornadoes, high winds, flash flooding, and hail are expected to continue, making rescue and recovery efforts difficult.
March Storm System (March 13-16, 2025):
In mid-March, a powerful storm system swept across the Central and Southeast U.S., impacting millions of people. These storms produced dust storms, wildfires, blizzard conditions, and 157 tornadoes across eight states. At least 42 lives were lost. Related to the high winds, fires also broke out in both Oklahoma and Texas, damaging hundreds of homes.
Severe Flooding (April 5-6, 2025):
On the weekend of April 5-6, a second series of deadly storms inflected severe rains and flooding spanning Texas to Ohio. Kentucky in particularly, set a record for the highest four-day rainfall. Tornadoes were once again reported in at least ten states, many in areas that don’t typically experience tornadoes. Across these storms, 24 people died and the heavy flooding currently compounds the inclement weather effects.
Airlink’s Disaster Response
Airlink is supporting responders to travel to multiple states to launch their responses.
Responders will be delivering vital assistance, including:
- Food and shelter
- Clean water
- Healthcare
- Muck and gutting of home
- Debris removal for roads & homes
- Establishing Wifi connectivity for shelters
- Additional clean-up operations
Over the coming months, Airlink antiquates supporting multiple partners to address humanitarian needs encompassing clean-up, shelter, psychosocial support, medical care, and more. Often times, impacted individuals do not have physical abilities, required skills, or large-scale equipment to repair and clean their homes. Therefore, the personal help of skilled responders and volunteers can make all the difference for families in need.
Minuteman Disaster Response is able to recover Maria’s family home in Pharr, Texas
“It…happen[ed] all of a sudden and we had water over a foot high inside of the house…it’s felt like such a great loss, but the help you’re giving us to repair things…we appreciate it so much. Because without this help we’d be in a much worse situation. Your team has been so kind…and you’ve helped us so much.”

Over a Decade of U.S. Responses
For over a decade, Airlink has been responding to some of the most severe weather disasters in the United States.
Beginning with the Hurricane Sandy response in 2012, our domestic responses are a key pillar of our work and include wildfires, tornadoes, floods, and storms, with a particular yearly focus on responding to the Atlantic Hurricane Season. With the support of our domestic airline partners, we help relief organizations expand their response capacity, and this airlift support allows U.S. based organizations to travel to disaster-stricken regions and states within the country that they may not otherwise have the resources to access.
