In the afternoon of Sunday, September 1, Category 5 Hurricane Dorian made its first landfall on Elbow Cay, in the Abacos of the northwestern Bahamas. Its second landfall on Great Abaco Island near Marsh Harbour followed shortly after. The death toll has risen to 50 people and thousands remain missing. According to the UN, more than 70,000 people on Abaco and Grand Bahama are in need of life-saving assistance.
Dorian skirted along the US east coast before making landfall over Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on September 6 and caused flooding and wind damage.
Airlink is transporting relief workers and emergency supplies by air to support the most heavily impacted areas.
Airlink’s support will bring search and rescue teams, medical care, debris clearing, food, clean water and other essentials to communities devastated by the storm.
