Allen Family Philanthropies has provided transformational support to Airlink’s response to Ebola epidemics throughout the years. When commercial air carriers cancelled service to West Africa at the height of the 2014 Ebola crisis, AFP funded a humanitarian airbridge from the U.S. and Europe, directly into Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. In sum, we consolidated 99 shipments across 37 nonprofit partners, mobilized 20 airline and logistics partners to transport 1.29M tons of humanitarian aid cargo and deploy 68 healthcare and relief workers, and provided resources for 15 treatment facilities.

In 2026, as the latest Ebola outbreak impacts already strained communities, AFP’s partnership is enabling us to deploy a combination of regional charger flights, international airlift, and end-to-end logistics services to facilitate approximately 28 humanitarian shipments and generate $1.1M in cost savings for humanitarian partners. We are grateful for AFP’s continued partnership and dedication to combating global health emergencies in vulnerable communities.
