Airlink in Asia & The Pacific
Airlink’s first response in Asia and the Pacific was the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami when Japan was hit by a powerful 9.0 magnitude earthquake in 2011, one of the worst natural disasters in its history. Since, Airlink has responded to cyclones, typhoons, floods, earthquakes, and other long-term complex humanitarian crises, such as in Afghanistan and Myanmar, while also supporting emergency preparedness initiatives for some of the world’s most disaster prone island nations.
A critical component of Airlink’s response condition is the development of localized regional partnerships between Airlink, local airlines, and local disaster response organizations.

Hurricane Idalia
Airlink has swiftly initiated its response efforts in the face of Hurricane Idalia, a formidable Category 3 hurricane that made a forceful landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast on the morning of August 30th. The impact has been marked by a dangerous storm surge and relentless maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour, posing severe threats to life and safety. This alarming situation has prompted the issuance of hurricane and tropical storm warnings throughout the state and evacuation orders for specific areas along Florida’s western coastline. An emergency declaration covers 49 of 67 Florida counties.
Cyclone Jasper
Airlink partners provided critical debris clean up and damage assessment for the impacted communities after Cyclone Jasper, the wettest tropical storm in Australian history in December 2023.
