James Gagne

President and CEO, SEKO Logistics

James Gagne has nearly 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and business leader in the global supply chain, transportation, and logistics industry. Since graduating from the United State Merchant Marine Academy, James has been involved in starting, running, and investing in businesses.

After graduation, James worked at the Port of New Jersey in Terminal/Ocean Carrier Operations before leaving the United States for China and a series of executive positions with Maersk, BAX/Schenker, and Agility.

Joining SEKO Logistics in 2014, James led the fast-growing Asia Pacific Region, based in Hong Kong. James was promoted in 2017 to SEKO’s President and its Chief Executive Officer a year later.  With his transitioning back to the U.S. to lead the global organization, James spearheaded the growth of the company from three countries and $400 million in revenue to 150 offices in more than 60 countries and $2 billion in revenue by 2022. James’ goal for SEKO is to become a $10 billion emerging global player in its industry by 2030.

James has been the chief architect of SEKO’s global expansion, including its growth through acquisitions and e-commerce solutions. His strategy has enabled SEKO to provide superior supply chain solutions and he provides guidance in every aspect of their global business. His leadership has allowed SEKO to become the world-class logistics provider it is today, maintaining and building on its client and people-centric approach.

James is known for transformational leadership and driving change, people development, and building effective cross-cultural teams to deliver significant shareholder value creation and increased business performance. By scaling the company while staying “small enough to care, big enough to scale,” James has enabled SEKO to not only survive, but thrive as it continues to create the future of the logistics industry.

Led by James, SEKO Logistics is also becoming more of a purpose-driven organization. In 2020, James spearheaded the launch of SEKO Cares, with the goal of uniting members of global communities and inspiring other multi-national corporations to support humanitarian relief efforts. Since its inception, SEKO Cares and its partners have provided crucial aid to the people of Ukraine, Türkiye, Haiti, Syria, and more. James’ vision for logistics is not only to enable world trade and inter-planetary commerce, but to also be a benefit to humanity. Under James’ stewardship, SEKO Cares has expanded and, in 2023, SEKO launched its inaugural ESG report – a critical milestone in the organization’s history.

Since 2011 James has been an active member and served in various leadership roles within the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Wineshipping, a premier tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies. Outside the office, James enjoys reading, rowing, and wine, and is a proud husband, partner, and father.
