Sunda Strait Tsunami

A tsunami believed to be caused by an undersea landslide associated with the Mount Anak Krakatau volcano struck communities along the Sunda Strait December 22. At least 430 people have died, 1,485 are injured, and more than 16,000 are displaced.

We are coordinating with nonprofit partners, airlines, and other groups to support the locally-led response. In the early stage of our response, our priorities include collecting and disseminating information across our network about survivor needs, partner activities, access constraints, and entry procedures.

We are assisting qualified nonprofit partners located across the globe in transporting relief workers and emergency supplies, as needed.
