World Refugee Day 2022
Whoever. Wherever. Whenever. Everyone has the right to seek safety.
World Refugee Day honors the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country. The year, World Refugee Day is focusing on the universal right of every person to seek safety – whoever they are, wherever they come from, and whenever they are forced to flee. Around the world, 84 million people were forcibly displaced by mid-2021, fleeing violence, instability, and ongoing humanitarian crises. Additional pressures imposed by the climate emergency, COVID-19, and poverty further intensified existing vulnerabilities in host communities.
Airlink’s World Refugee Day session will explore the work of NGO partners CADENA, Global Response Management, and Medical Teams International in supporting refugees fleeing Ukraine, migrants on the US-Mexico border, and displaced populations throughout the Horn of Africa. The brief presentations will be followed by a guided conversation surrounding the challenges of serving refugee populations across different regions of the world, and the role of the humanitarian community to overcome them.
