Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings companies Atlas Air, Polar Air Cargo and Titan Aviation have each committed $10,000, for a total of $30,000, to nonprofit disaster response organization Airlink to support the organization’s Operation Airlift India appeal. In addition, the companies have launched an organization-wide campaign aiming to raise another $10,000 with its employees, friends and followers to support Airlink’s India initiative. Operation Airlift India seeks to co-ordinate access to free and subsidized airlift for its network of humanitarian aid nonprofit partners in order to tackle the recent surge of COVID-19 in that country.
“At Atlas, we care for the world we carry and we are proud to support Airlink’s critical Operation Airlift India,” said John W. Dietrich, President and Chief Executive Officer, Atlas Air Worldwide.
“The sharp increase of COVID-19 cases in India has stressed local health systems and led to shortages in the supply of critical medical equipment. We value the opportunity to contribute to these critical relief efforts.”
The Atlas family of companies have long been affiliated with Airlink and offered support for global pressing issues. In addition, Atlas Air Worldwide company leaders play a personal role in supporting the nonprofit through volunteer leadership roles. Atlas Air Worldwide CEO and President John Dietrich is an Airlink Governors Council member; Polar Air Cargo Chief Operating Officer Lars Winkelbauer serves on Airlink’s Board of Trustees; Atlas Air Worldwide EVP & Chief Commercial Officer Michael Steen, who concurrently serves as President and CEO of Titan Aviation Leasing, is an Airlink Ambassador.
“We are deeply grateful to the staff and the management of Atlas and its group of businesses,” said Steve J. Smith, President and CEO of Airlink. “We feel very privileged to be supported by such a committed partner. This is just the latest example of their generosity. We know that we can rely on the Atlas group of businesses to help Airlink get critical aid to where it is needed in the aftermath of a disaster”.
Airlink and its nonprofit network have already begun the movement of supplies to India. On behalf of nonprofit Global Medics, Airlink organized the movement of 4000 KN95 masks and 2000 Pulse Oximeters. Airlink has an initial pipeline of 17 shipments of supplies for 11 NGO partners.
